Happy Valentines Day! It’s come around again and if it crept up too quickly on you, don’t worry – we’ve got three whisky-fuelled ways of celebrating whether you’re spending it with your one and only, or your one and only is whisky.
Valentines Day Raasay Rosso, The Balmoral
These days the stunning roof top of Edinburgh’s iconic Balmoral Hotel is reserved largely for pre-arranged romantic proposals and wedding photo shoots.
With this in mind, when we were invited up to the 7th floor to celebrate the addition of our handcrafted Scotch whiskies, Raasay While We Wait and Borders, to the hotel’s renowned Scotch bar, we couldn’t resist keeping a romantic theme.
After all, we like to consider a dram of Raasay While We Wait or Borders a romantic affair.
Once out of the wind which perfectly reminded us of the wild and rugged island of Raasay, Scotch Bar Manager Fraser Robson prepared a bespoke ‘Raasay Rosso’ cocktail with Raasay While We Wait, Grandmarnier and dry Vermouth with a refreshing orange twist especially for Valentines Day.
And it was so good they decided to make it a permanent fixture on their cocktail menu. So, if you’re looking to keep you’re Valentines date going a little longer, or need the perfect aperitif that makes a lasting impression, pop into Scotch at the Balmoral tonight or any night.
Raasay While We Wait and Borders have joined Scotch’s list of over 500 whiskies spanning all Scottish regions and profiles. Staffed by knowledgeable whisky ambassadors and positioned above Edinburgh’s Waverley station, it’s always the perfect setting for a dram while you wait for the train, head out for the night, or warm up with a nightcap.
Beginners Guide to Speed Dating, Moriarty Bar
If you’re still on the look out for that someone special, head over to Moriarty Bar in Edinburgh’s Tollcross and try your luck at their Beginners Guide to Speed Dating tonight (14th February) from 7pm.
They’ll have Raasay While We Wait second release (currently only available to members of our whisky clubs) in case you need a little dutch courage, or just an expertly crafted single malt to bond over.
For your £5 participation fee there’ll also be comedy and cocktails involved.
