Last Wednesday to celebrate Robert Burns’ night we hosted a whisky, cocktail and haggis tasting evening with enough merriment and music to make the Bard proud.
Milroy’s of Soho is the oldest whisky shop in London, and we were more than happy to host a tasting and event there. To begin the night, I handed out samples of Raasay While We Wait first Release, followed by preview samples of the second Release (read more here) in their brilliant whisky bar and shop.
Raasay While We Wait first and second release split the room, with many people enjoying the big smoky notes from the first, and others enjoying the rounded red wine notes from the second release – showing that our representative single malt really has evolved.
At 6pm, The Vault (their hidden cocktail bar behind the book shelf) crafted and poured Raasay While We Wait haggis spiced Bobby Burn’s cocktails, with a side of haggis from London-based Scottish restaurant Mac & Wild. Between Milroy’s upstairs, and The Vault downstairs, there was plenty of Raasay While We Wait to toast the bard with.

Towards the end of the night, completely unplanned (no, really!) a piper appeared at the door, thirsty for a dram. He was duly serviced with a large whisky, and proceeded to play to the bar as a thank you. The perfect Burns’ Night round off to a brilliant evening.
Many thanks to Simo and the team at Milroy’s, Chris and staff at the Vaults, and all the folks who came down and made it a brilliant Burns’ night.
