Where to Drink for Scotland vs Wales Rugby

Looking forward to Scotland vs Wales Rugby game on Saturday (25th Feb)? Considering which public house to get a dram in before, what promises to be an entertaining but icy cold spectacle at Murrayfield on Saturday, or where to settle in to watch the game on screen?

Here are a list of a few great Edinburgh pubs, that also happen to have our drams behind the bar. While we wait for a Scotland win perhaps?

Rugby Pubs

Harry’s Bar

A long term supporter of Raasay While We Wait and our Borders highland single grain whisky, Harry’s Bar is a hidden gem in the West End of Edinburgh. They are quickly starting to become one of the best places to watch the rugby, and even hosted a question and answer session with Allan “Chunk” Jacobsen a few weeks back. Both Raasay While We Wait & Borders are on their 6 nations deal there. They also have bottles of Newport’s Tiny Rebel Beer if you’re a Wales supporter.

The Black Cat

A cosy whisky and beer pub, the Black Cat is busy most of the year but particularly on a 6 nations day. Pop in for a dram of Raasay While We Wait first release, very reasonably priced quality food and the delicious Campervan Beer (previously brewed in a campervan). Jane and her great team always extend a warm welcome.

Kay’s Bar

A classic Victorian building, Kay’s was originally a Wine and Spirit Merchant owned by John Kay. In the 1970’s it sadly closed but it feels appropriate that the mantle of Kay’s is being carried forward as one of Edinburgh’s best beer and whisky pubs. A new stockist of Raasay While We Wait – we are proud to be on their back bar.

The Red Squirrel

A nice bright modern venue, great beers and brilliant burgers. Recently The Red Squirrel revamped their whisky list. They now have North British (which makes sense as the distillery is about a 30-minute walk away) and our Borders highland single grain whisky and Raasay While We Wait. We will be hosting a whisky and beer matching with them and the Cross Borders brewers at the end of March.

Teuchtars West End

Normally absolutely packed for the rugby you’ll find a great atmosphere, good food, and beer selection here. They also offer a fantastic game where you can attempt to win a dram; dram ring toss. Why not try and win a dram of Raasay While We Wait?
