Opening Summer 2017.
Before now the only distilling on Raasay were illegal stills, prevalent throughout these parts until the 1850s. Neighbours on Skye would even hang out white washing to warn Raasay ‘distillers’ of an approaching tax man.
This year, R&B are literally breaking new ground to build the first legal distillery on the island. Lying in the shadow of the distinctly flat-topped Dùn Caan, it will produce handcrafted whiskies that truly reflect the rugged elegance of the landscape.
Our visitor centre and luxury overnight members accommodation open Summer 2017.

This is where the journey starts, from surveying for protected species to installing the last still, join the journey and experience our drop of whisky history.
Our R&B’s Whisky Whispers blog will follow progress closely, and bring it from Raasay to wherever you are.
Raasay boasts a unique geology, forged in volcanic fires. Hence the volcanic minerals that imbue the water from our spring, once an ancient source quaintly named “well of the pale cow”, representing fertility of the land.
Harnessing the raw elements of the island, we’ll apply our expertise to create and fine-tune a range of expressions. Thus the essential nature of the Raasay terroir will be brought to life through premium Scotch whisky.
Isle of Raasay Distillery will produce Island Single Malt Scotch Whisky.
